Smugglers Den

Northumberland

View on Google Maps

Beadnell is a working fishing village on the Northumberland coast, with a wide sandy bay backed by dunes and a row of converted lime kilns. The Church of St Ebba stands opposite Smugglers Den, a stone cottage built as part of a small recent development. Two bedrooms—one with a king bed, one with two singles—and a bathroom upstairs; a sitting room with television and a combined kitchen and dining space downstairs, where you can cook properly with an electric oven and induction hob. A patio with seating overlooks the village. Heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are all included; off-road parking for two cars is on site. No smoking inside.

The village itself is small and compact. A café, a coffee shop, a general store and two pubs with food are within easy walking distance. Beadnell Bay—the main beach—is twelve minutes on foot; smaller coves and rocky shores are closer still. The cottage suits families and groups who want to be near the water but based in the village rather than isolated on a cliff top or in countryside. It is accessible at ground level.
