About Ardlui Holiday Home Park

Tucked at the northern tip of Loch Lomond within the national park, Ardlui Holiday Home Park occupies a genuinely spectacular spot where mountains tumble down to the water's edge. It's a small, friendly site ideally placed for walkers – the West Highland Way passes nearby, accessible via a short ferry hop from Ardlui Marina – and for anyone keen on watersports, fishing or simply soaking up the Highland scenery. Pitches overlook the loch, and facilities include showers, launderette and wifi to keep things comfortable.

The adjacent Ardlui Hotel adds real value, serving hearty Scottish classics like haggis and steak pie in its cosy restaurant, plus a fine selection of whiskies and occasional live entertainment in the pub. Staff earn consistent praise for their helpfulness, though some visitors note food quality can be variable. With dogs welcome year-round and public transport links nearby, it's both a practical overnighter and a base for exploring one of Scotland's most beautiful corners.

On the third day of our hike along the West Highland Way, we stayed at this very charming hotel. We were picked up from our hiking route by a small boat and transported across Loch Lomond to the hotel, which was a unique experience in itself. Upon arrival, we received a very warm welcome from the receptionist. Check-in was smooth, and we quickly gained access to our room. The room was comfortable and featured a good bed. The bathroom was a little small, but it was very clean, which is what matters most to us. In the evening, we enjoyed dinner in the hotel's restaurant. Here, I had one of the best servings of haggis of our entire trip. The other dishes were also delicious and beautifully presented. The cooked breakfast was very good. The continental breakfast was decent, although not particularly outstanding. We had also ordered a packed lunch for our hike. It was very well prepared and included freshly made sandwiches, water, fruit, and a sweet treat. Definitely worth ordering if you're continuing your walk the next day.

Very odd hotel. Part of the problems with it are hard to put your finger on exactly. Like in the morning, how insistent they are that you get a continental OR cooked breakfast. That’s not a huge deal, but it did feel very strange how they emphasized it. Using the shower made the ceiling leak below our room (which based on the number of water spots I saw around the ceiling might be a common issue), but that issue was resolved by letting us use a shower in another room. No big deal. The food for dinner was another issue. Virtually nothing we ordered came out as described. Elements were missing in literally every dish. Then, they charged $20 per dram of some very mid-tier 12-ish year whiskeys, more than twice what I have ever seen them sold for at any other pub. High prices and relatively low quality gave this the feel of a “tourist trap”, even though it is in the middle of nowhere on a hiking trail. Strange, strange place.

We stayed in this lovely hotel overlooking Loch Lomond during mid April, on the second night of my Husband walking the west highland way. Our room was a suite, beautifully decorated, large and had a fabulous view looking down the loch. Staff were super helpful, food was good too. The local ferry bringing walkers across the top of the loch was super helpful, would stay here again when in the area!

Outstanding Hospitality and Exceptional Customer Service We encountered an unexpected challenge while traveling through the Highlands later in the evening, and transportation options were limited. After calling the hotel, Victoria immediately stepped in to help. Rather than simply offering suggestions, she took ownership of the situation and personally coordinated a solution to make sure we could safely reach the hotel. That level of care is rare. Victoria went far beyond what anyone would reasonably expect and demonstrated genuine hospitality, kindness, and professionalism. She made us feel like valued guests long before we checked in. In an age when customer service often feels transactional, Victoria and the team reminded us what true hospitality looks like. They didn’t just provide a room; they cared for people. If you’re visiting Fort William and looking for a hotel with breathtaking scenery, a fantastic location, and a team that genuinely goes above and beyond, The Clan MacDuff Hotel is an easy five-star recommendation. A special thank you to Victoria for turning a stressful situation into one of the most memorable examples of customer service we have ever experienced.
