About The George Hotel

The George Hotel has stood on Inveraray's Main Street since 1776, and remains a family-run inn at heart despite a change of ownership in 2025 ahead of its 250th anniversary. Its 17 bedrooms, plus a further 8 in the adjoining First House, mix original features such as open fires and roll-top baths with modern comforts, all a short walk from Inveraray Castle and the shore of Loch Fyne.

Downstairs, three bars include a cocktail bar, a traditional pub with an open fire and over 400 whiskies, and the Garden Bar looking towards the loch, while the restaurant serves produce landed from the hotel's own boat on Loch Fyne alongside Scottish venison and other local dishes. Live music runs through the summer, and the hotel is well known locally for its dog-friendly welcome.

Inveraray itself makes a good stop between Loch Lomond and Oban, or a base for exploring Mid Argyll's castles, gardens and prehistoric sites, and The George's central position puts the castle, jail museum and loch shore all within easy walking distance.
