About Leonardo Royal Hotel Oxford

A substantial modern build spread across two floors, Leonardo Royal Hotel Oxford houses 240 rooms on Godstow Road, within easy reach of Port Meadow and Oxford's historic colleges. Its scale sets it apart from the city's smaller guesthouses, with the kind of facilities that come from a purpose-built hotel rather than a converted townhouse.

Rooms are generously sized with comfortable beds, en-suite bathrooms and air conditioning, along with family and accessible options and the usual conveniences of WiFi, room service and laundry. That said, some rooms show signs of wear, so it is worth setting expectations accordingly. On site there is a restaurant, bar, indoor swimming pool, spa and sauna, and a well-equipped gym, plus meeting rooms and space for weddings or events. Breakfast is a particular strength, with a wide buffet spread, and staff are consistently described as friendly and helpful. Chargeable parking is available on site, a genuine convenience in this part of Oxford.

Beyond the hotel, guests can walk to Port Meadow or head into the city to explore the colleges, with Blenheim Palace also within reach for a day out. Pubs, restaurants and a golf course nearby round out the options for those not planning to stray far from base.

The hotel is very nice and clean. Rooms are spacious and well equipped (even with a Nespresso machine). Staff very friendly and polite. Bed was comfy but bed sheets were stained. Breakfast was very good with quality products and a good variety. The view from the window was a building site which fortunately being a Bank Holiday wasn't in operation! Not sure about the noise from there in the morning during a working day..... I chose this hotel for a short break mainly because of the Spa facilities which were infact quite disappointing as the pool is very small as well as the sauna and steam room. No jacuzzi and no space for chairs or sunbeds for a bit of relaxation by the pool. At busy times you are only allowed a 30 minutes slot which goes very quickly.

Easy and close in uber. £10 to the center reception was lovey and modern. Nice cocktails but not much atmosphere in the bar. Room a bit dated and floors need a good clean. Swimming pool is very dated, smelt of drains and was cloudy.

Stayed here for one night, we thought the room was nice, I agree the carpets are a bit marked and it could have been a little cleaner on the floor but the bathroom and bedsheets were all clean. Good facilities, tea coffee biscuits, hair dryer ironing board. Didn’t have an issue with room being too dim as others have said, there were about 6 lamps in the room. The only thing we couldn’t work the air con and even on 17 it was coming out hot. Bath tub little on small side but perfect for me being 5 ft. Absolutely perfect for a couple of nights away. Little snack shop and coffee in the nicely presented lobby. We also had breakfast included which was well worth it, great selection of cooked breakfast, healthy options, pastries, cereals. All the staff we came across were very friendly. Would recommend and stay again. Didn’t use the spa or pool. But to note you do need to pay for parking on site. Shame it’s not free for hotel guests. Chrome cast worked for us to stream own shows, the only app which didn’t work was Netflix, but now tv, Disney worked.
