Skokholm is a small island in the Celtic Sea off the Pembrokeshire coast, home to nesting puffin colonies, porpoises and a lighthouse built in the early 1900s. The cottage sleeps six across three bedrooms and one bathroom, all on the ground floor. There is a double bedroom with an ensuite toilet, two single beds in a second room, and two child single beds in a third, plus a separate shower room. An open-plan living and dining area has a Freeview TV and electric fire; the kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering. Bed linen, towels, Wi-Fi and electricity are included, along with heating. Decking with garden furniture overlooks the surroundings, and private parking is available on site.

The island setting makes this property distinctive—you are genuinely isolated from mainland attractions, though Little Haven with its sheltered cove and water sports is nearby by boat. Broad Haven and other beaches are accessible at low tide. The area suits families, couples and those seeking a quiet retreat rather than a social holiday; one pet is welcome. No smoking throughout the property. Check-in is after 15:00 and checkout before 10:00.

I had a seven night stay in June. I was allocated the 'Carpenters Mate's room which was cosy and comfortable. The facilities and boarding are fine for a week. The island staff were friendly and good company and I met some nice people. The island has very good photographic opportunities for birds. I'd definitely return and recommend.

First trip was a couple of years ago and found it to be a magical place, perfect birders and natural history lovers location, the whole experience is wonderful and planning to go back next year 2020. Can't wait.
