The Granary

Pembrokeshire

Photo: Google Maps

This converted granary dates back around 150 years and retains its original character throughout. All accommodation is on the ground floor, with vaulted ceilings, exposed beams, limestone flagstones in the living areas and oak flooring in the bedrooms. The property has been renovated to a high standard while preserving these period features. You get a 2-bedroom cottage sleeping 4: one kingsize and two singles, plus a bathroom with bath, shower and heated towel rail.

The open-plan living space combines a sitting area with woodburner, dining space and kitchen. You can cook using the range cooker, and there's a dishwasher and washer-dryer. Wi-Fi, electricity, bed linen and towels are included, along with initial logs for the fire. A courtyard garden with seating looks out from the property, there's a bike store, and parking for two cars. One well-behaved pet stays free. Smoking is not permitted.

The cottage sits a few miles from the Pembrokeshire coastline, making it a practical base for walking, cycling or surfing. Newgale beach is about 30 minutes' drive away, offering long stretches of sand and views across St Bride's Bay. The Pembrokeshire Coast National Park route runs through the area, passing quieter coves and fishing villages. St David's cathedral and the 13th-century Bishop's Palace lie further along the coast. A community-owned pub nearby serves food Thursday to Sunday.
