About Hotel Penzance

Hotel Penzance occupies a converted Edwardian merchant's house on Britons Hill, a short walk above the harbour and railway station, with many of its rooms looking straight out over Mount's Bay to St Michael's Mount. The building has kept much of its original character, from high ceilings to period fireplaces, while the rooms themselves have a contemporary, uncluttered feel.

The hotel's restaurant has built a strong local reputation, drawing on fish and shellfish landed at nearby Newlyn and served in a dining room and terrace that share the same sea views as the bedrooms above. A small subtropical garden runs down the hillside, sheltered enough for palms and other exotics to thrive.

It suits visitors who want a proper hotel experience, with restaurant and bar on site, while remaining an easy walk from the station, harbour and Chapel Street, making it a practical choice for a car-free break in West Cornwall.

This place felt just like home. We loved the laid-back freedom of being able to roam around as we pleased and grab coffee or treats whenever we wanted. Aside from the unbeatable room views and convenient station location, the service was incredible, especially from the bartender who served us the best Espresso Martini of our lives! Rain stopped us from using the lounge and heated pool, but we loved how welcome we felt.

Average at best is what i would say. Maybe I got a bad room. But it was very hot. The room ceiling was very low and there was no shower. More of a hand shower situation in a bathtub with no glass so it wet the entire bathroom. The staff were fine . But for the price I paid 130 for that terrible room its really not worth a return. The food was also very average. I think the microwave was working overtime.

We stayed in this hotel as we were travelling to Penzance for work reasons. It was very well priced and came with a choice of dinner or breakfast. We chose breakfast and we are glad we did! It was amazing, small but still a perfect amount of food. There was also cold options available and tea, coffee, juice and toast. The room was spacious, bed super comfy , very clean and had a big tv, the only negative I can say is, I thought the tvs were smart and the one in my room was not, although my colleagues had another room and their tv was a smart tv. Room had tea and coffee making facilities along with some snacks and water. All in all a very lovely place to stay! Lovely views of the ocean and the swimming pool looks like it would be amazing in the summer ! October 2025 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Lovely hotel, stayed on a work trip. Very friendly and helpful staff. Love being able to sit and read a book in front of the lovely view. The room had a sea view and was massive with its own sofa and very comfy, cleaned every day. Cannot rate highly enough.
