If I could give no stars I would. We arrived at the hotel to a locked door and had to ring the hotel number to be told someone was on their way. We were given a key for our room by 2 lovely young ladies who then left the hotel. The entrance has seen better days and along with the room had not been decorated in years. Wallpaper hanging off the walls, the carpet was so old and dirty. The bedding did appear clean along with the towels but the dust and dirt was very clear to see throughout the room and bathroom. No milk to make a coffee or eat the cereal left for us. The shower was a nightmare to use to the point I gave up as it was either too hot or too cold and must have been about 20 years old. We were told on arrival they had only just taken over the hotel so I can understand the decor however I don't think this excuses the dirtiness and dust. I am writing this review because the reviews on here are really deceaving and had it not been late and us having a shattered dog with us, we would have found somewhere else to stay. I do wish the new owners luck as there is a lot of work to do in the hotel it's just a shame our visit wasn't a pleasant one.

It was quaint, charming. Just what I expected from a small hotel in a small town Scotland. We loved it! From the details of the china displayed all around, to the boxed breakfast in the fridge , right down to the coal burning fire place in the dinning room and the bar. The staff was exceptionally friendly all around. They even had the chef accommodating my gluten free needs so I could have Peterhead fish and chips! We visited family in the little bar/pub area, it was comfortable and enjoyable. It was walking distance from the bus station, which was really helpful. There was a brewery near by that had gluten free beer and wonderful people to meet. It was a nice older property but very clean and well kept. Would absolutely recommend it!
