My wife booked this place when we were on a holiday in Scotland. Overall it was a pleasant stay. 5 stars for the kitchen which was pretty well equipped where i could cook our dinners and the condiments and utensils were pretty well equipped. And, what impressed me - A nice coffee machine as i am a coffee junkie. 3.5/4 stars for the room which was a bit too small and a bathroom detached from our room (but exclusively our own use). Bathroom was clean, spacious and well lit. Nonetheless, Mr Captain was a bit cold towards us with a stone face. Man of few words. But, was glad he walked me thru the kitchen. Not much complains, but a lil’ more warm will be nice.

Location you can't really go wrong with anywhere in portree if that's where U want to be. Everything is fairly close no matter where U choose to stay. Only positive the bedding was nice. Negatives, the walls were paper thin, I could hear a chorus of snoring coming from other rooms, there was a funny food smell I couldn't quite put my finger on, on the morning of my check out I went for a shower but there was no hot water, the room was far too small, and too warm and stuffy, the signs calling for silence after 10 seems a bit much. Overall I wasn't impressed with the experience at all. And I'm fairly sure the host lives in the shed in the back garden my room looked onto. Wouldn't stay again. And definitely no seaviews as the booking.com ad would have you belive

A standard welcome, a brief explanation of the house rules, no shoes allowed inside which was ok but a bit weird to us. We had our own bathroom but to get there we had to use the common hallway which made it a bit less convenient. The room itself was clean but small, not the best sound proof walls but luckily quiet neighbors. The breakfast the next morning wasn't really inviting to us, the door was still closed before 8am, so we decided to leave for the city center to grab some breakfast there instead. Parking was free, either on their property or the street across which was no problem. The location is also very good, 5 minutes walking distance from the town center.

I really wanted to ignore the reviews and give this place a chance it looked so perfect for us a young family ( husband wife and six year old daughter) This was my first mistake. After a nice message confirming our check-in time from the owner that he will meet us and it was all fine. We turned up to the worst welcome ever " your late" we arrived at 8pm which was agreed in the message. We took our bits in and headed out for dinner in to the town. Stopped at the drive way by the owner he has been clearly waiting and watching us on the very visible CCTV cameras around the house. He said I didn't know there was a child. I explained the phone call and email confirmation in his words saying our daughter could use her travel bed and he would make room for her on the floor moving the coffee table. He said oh yeah I remember my mistake. I think this is disgusting as this conversation happened in front of my daughter who was so excited for her holiday.he walked off no apology. The breakfast is non existent the 4 mornings we were there there was no bread supplied or pastries at all. After this we felt so uncomfortable using the kitchen we didn't bother as you felt like you were being watched constantly as the owner clearly lived in the extension and him and his partner used the house as there own cooking most of the day. on Easter Sunday him and his partner had the most horrific argument in the kitchen my daughter and I could hear every word the shouting was unbearable was so loud we left and went for a small walk. We really just wanted to leave at this point. The last day we ran out of loo roll we had one for the 3 of us for 4 days after a two hour wait he brought us one stuffed it in my husbands hand and gave him a dirty look safe to say never go again.
