Up on Heatherfield above Portree, with the hills of Skye rolling out beyond the garden, Taigh Scalpaigh makes a quiet base for exploring the island. It's an adults-only bed and breakfast, set back from the harbour town itself but close enough for an easy walk into the shops, pubs and restaurants below.
Rooms are en-suite, kept spotless, and come with a mini-fridge and kitchenette access along with drinks in the room, so there's flexibility to settle in beyond the usual B&B basics. Breakfast is a proper start to the day, with fresh fruit, warm croissants and gluten-free options laid on, and the garden and outdoor seating give a spot to sit out when the weather allows, with a picnic area too if you'd rather eat outside.
The owners are on hand with local advice, and there's free on-site parking along with an electric vehicle charge point. Fishing, watersports and walking are all within reach nearby, and Portree itself has plenty of places to eat and drink once you're ready to head down the hill.

This B&B is really extraordinary. We had an awesome time here! Mina is a wonderful host and absolutely spoiled us with home baked goods and pastries. She also was so kind and prepared us a packed breakfast because we wanted to have an early start in the morning. It was delicious! The rooms are clean and cozy, the area is peaceful and the view is beautiful. We will gladly come back.

Tears fell when we checked out. It was the kindest, most comfortable travel experience we have ever had. It was like being home, but surrounded by incredible landscapes and experiences. Mina and Johnny are stunning hosts and are kind and generous. The rooms are exceptionally comfortable, and the breakfast hampers are legend! Those croissants ... served warm! Oh goodness, we still think about them. Having our own table in the breakfast nook, with our own mini-fridge, plus access to the kitchenette, made the experience stellar. It was pure relaxation! Thank you for an unforgettable stay, and we absolutely want to return.

This place was amazing. We were there last week for a couple of nights. The owners are great. The room and amenities were just awesome. The owners deliver a basket of breakfast goods every morning. My wife is gluten free and she received was pleased with the gluten free options. You have your own mini fridge in a small kitchen with everything you need. The bed was even comfortable. I cannot say more about how great it was.

Had a wondering stay at Mina’s. A lot of help and advice before and during our stay. Spacious, bright and comfortable room, lovely view, good location near Portree for driving around Skye.
