About The Port Hotel
Walk into a room at The Port Hotel and you'll find a clean, comfortable space kitted out with air conditioning, free WiFi and drinks on hand, a straightforward setup that suits a short seaside stay in Portrush. With only 17 rooms, the hotel keeps things compact and manageable rather than sprawling, and beds are noted for being genuinely comfortable rather than just adequate.
Downstairs there's a restaurant and bar serving breakfast that includes a hearty Ulster fry, though the wider food offering has had mixed opinions, with some finding it fell short on quality. Staff are attentive and friendly, and the hotel also has a garden, luggage storage, and space for weddings and events. Free on-site parking is available, and pets are welcome.
The location works well for exploring the area, with Ulster University's Coleraine campus nearby and plenty of pubs, restaurants and entertainment within easy reach in Portrush itself. It's a hotel built around solid basics: a good night's sleep, a filling breakfast, and a helpful welcome.
What guests say
The bar is comfortable and clean, the staff are friendly, efficient and attentive. That’s the end of the positives. We were in the bar for a meal. We ordered drinks, the Guinness was good but the Diet Coke was flat. I ordered scampi and it was the most disappointing scampi I have ever eaten. It wasn’t whole tail but some kind of mush in breadcrumbs. And the fries on the side were nearly £5. My husband had a burger which was topped with grated cheese, again the fries were an additional £5. The standard of food is poor here, particularly given the prices, we felt £55 for the food was far too expensive and we would advise visitors to eat elsewhere.

We had an amazing two night stay in this hotel. Staff, food, drink all outstanding. Best of all tv screens everywhere which was incredible as grand national was on and it was amazing. The rooms as clean and bathroom spotless. The bed and bedding and pillows outstanding had best two nights sleep. The main winner was the mini fridge as I am type 1 diabetic and it was a blessing to have. We will be back asap. Thank you for a lovely break away

Building is clean Staff are nice, helpful, friendly The food in the restaurant is presented well but sorry to say seemed quite low quality and portion size was quite small. Basically I didn't think the food was worth what we paid. We could have gone to a chip van and got twice the amount of food for half the money.

Stayed here for 3 nights over easter and was extremely disappointed. Upon arrival we found a dirty sock laying on the floor. The mattress was like a rock- would of been better sleeping on the floor (ended up using all the pillows in a row lined up on top of mattress to lay on top of).The room was absolutely freezing had to ring about getting the heating actually turned on. the toilet would not flush, the water pressure was terrible and the sink turned on by itself. The tv never worked. location was great but due to it being easter was extremely loud.
