Carrick Dhu Holiday Park
12 Ballyreagh Rd, Portrush BT56 8LS, UK
Council-run coastal park on the A2 between Portrush and Portstewart
About Carrick Dhu Holiday Park
Carrick Dhu sits on the coast road linking Portrush and Portstewart, putting the award-winning West Bay beach, a golf course and a handful of restaurants within easy walking distance while keeping you clear of either town centre. Run by Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, it's straightforward, well maintained and reliably cheaper than commercial parks nearby – though some visitors note the facilities can feel a little tired in places. The 35 touring pitches (with electric hook-up) are hard-surfaced with artificial grass, so bring metal pegs or sandbags for awnings; there are also 20 grass tent pitches and longer bays suited to larger motorhomes.
The position is the main draw. The Port Path coastal walk and Sustrans cycle route run past the gate, letting you reach Portrush or Portstewart car-free, while Portstewart Strand, Dunluce Castle, Royal Portrush, Bushmills and the Giant's Causeway are all close by. For a family wanting affordable, well-placed camping in the heart of the coast's busiest stretch, it's hard to beat – but book well ahead for July and August.

Our 10th campsite stop on our Ireland tour and by far, the nicest facilities. Showers are probably the best public showers we have ever had. Staff are ultra friendly, site layout is perfect. Town walking distance. A must stop if you're in the area. Definitely 5*

A large campsite with mainly caravans and trailers. But a nice walled field for tents also. Services are really good, plenty of showers and toilets and really clean. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Close to the Causeway Coastal Trail, the 'Stones' and perfect beaches.
