Hoarstone Cottage
Powys
The Welsh Marches are dotted with market towns, working farms and woodland walks, and Hoarstone Cottage sits on a quiet lane deep in this landscape, a few fields from a working farm. The cottage is yours entirely, with space for four across two bedrooms, each with a double bed. Ground floor living centres on a woodburner, a dining room and a kitchen equipped to cook properly—range cooker, dishwasher, breakfast bar. Upstairs is just bedrooms and a bathroom with a bath and shower. Parking for three cars is on site, and one dog is welcome.
The essentials are covered: heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wi-fi are all included, as is the initial fuel for the woodburner. You'll find garden furniture on a sitting-out area, a bike store if you want to cycle the local routes, and a travel cot and highchair if needed. The immediate draw is the peace—rolling hills, wildlife, quiet countryside. The walking and cycling from the door are genuinely extensive. Presteigne, a proper market town with pubs, cafes and the Judges Lodging museum, is the nearest settlement. Ludlow, Leominster and Hereford are all within an hour's drive and offer restaurants, independent shops and attractions ranging from distilleries to cheese makers to farm shops. No smoking inside the cottage.
