Sgubor Fach
Powys
Rural mid-Wales has plenty of appeal for those seeking quiet countryside, and Penybontfawr sits at the heart of it—a small village with a shop and pub within reach of Sgubor Fach. This converted barn stands on its own in the Tanat Valley, surrounded by pasture land and far enough from main roads that peace is genuine rather than promised.
The property holds a kingsize bedroom and a zip-and-link super kingsize (convertible to two singles) across the first floor, with two bathrooms serving both. Downstairs, the open-plan living and dining space centres on an electric woodburner and leads through patio doors to a sitting area. The kitchen is properly equipped for self-catering—electric oven and hob, dishwasher, fridge-freezer and microwave among the essentials. Heating, electricity, wifi and bed linen are all covered. A travel cot and highchair are available for younger guests.
Outside, a courtyard with patio and garden furniture opens onto the grounds; there's also a barbecue. Parking for four cars sits on site. The property is not suitable for those with mobility difficulties due to its split-level layout. One well-behaved pet is welcome. Snowdonia National Park lies a few miles away, making this a practical base for exploring the wider region.
