About The Cartford Inn

Cartford Lane, on the edge of Preston in Lancashire, sits beside the River Wyre, and it's this setting that gives The Cartford Inn its main appeal. The inn looks out over the water, with a garden to make the most of the views, and combines the feel of a traditional pub with something a bit more individual in its 14 bedrooms, each decorated with its own quirky character rather than a standard hotel template.

The restaurant and bar are central to a stay here, with a seasonally rotating menu that takes traditional British dishes and gives them an elevated finish. Breakfast is included, and the atmosphere throughout is warm and relaxed rather than formal, helped along by staff who are consistently attentive and professional. There's free WiFi, meeting rooms for those combining business with the stay, and free on-site parking.

Luggage storage and 24-hour reception make arrival and departure straightforward, while the riverside location and easy transport links put Preston's wider attractions within reach. It's a place built around comfort and good food rather than spectacle, and it delivers reliably on both.

Superb food - fine dining. £100 for two, two courses + sparkling water. Service took a while to get going - we arrived (booked) at their opening time of 5:30pm. We'll definitely come again.

Spent the weekend at this absolute gem It was the most beautiful relaxing wonderful experience. The room was immaculate the bed was heaven and the decor was thoughtfully curated, the team at the Cartford have obviously been trained to a very high standard as the service was outstanding, everything was done with a smile and appeared effortless . The hard work and obvious dedication of the owners shine through, the food was simply delicious and wine list excellent , we also loved the choice , the drinks menu was very well thought out small producers at the top of their game . The shop offered the chance to bring a little of the Cartford home and the choice was locally produced artisan products with an eclectic twist , so I did indulge. The setting was idyllic and we are planning our next stay , we came away feeling rested and recharged everything a break should be and so much more . We would like to say thank you to the team , and safe to say we are now big fans of team Cartford.

We stayed at the wonderful The Cartford Inn last night while travelling to Moor Hall to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and we could not have asked for a lovelier stay. A big thank you to Alex, Eleanor and Evie who looked after us so warmly during dinner and breakfast this morning. Friendly, relaxed and genuinely welcoming service throughout. As Isle of Man residents, it was also such a lovely surprise to see Devereau’s Manx kippers on the breakfast menu. A little touch of home that really made us smile. A beautiful inn, a comfortable night’s sleep, excellent food and a warm atmosphere from start to finish. We will definitely be back.
