What visitors say

Ian Hawkes

A beautiful manor house showing William Morris's studio and living areas and the history. Wonderful visit. The tea room was excellent, homemade cakes and a good tea.

It's an interesting house with lovely samples of William Morris designs, plus work by Jane & May and drawings & paintings by Dante Gabriel Rosetti. Guides in each room were knowledgeable and helpful. Tickets are for timed entry (once inside, there's no time limit), and time slots sell out, so book in advance. There are some good videos on YouTube, about the house & its restoration which are worth looking at before your visit.

Absolutely fantastic house and grounds lovingly managed and interesting to visit. Nice tea room and great gift shop.

Like we arrived in the later afternoon, we only visited the domain (which is free) and not the house itself. We strolled a bit around the House and in the garden while reading some info boards about William Morris life. Wether if you are a fan of his work or not, his widespread engagement in society should be an example for many of us.
