Mad Alice’s Cottage

Loftus sits within reach of some of northeast Yorkshire's most compelling terrain. The Cleveland Way runs through here, offering long-distance hiking through moorland and past dramatic coastal cliffs. Saltburn is nearby with its Victorian pier and seafront, while Whitby is a short drive away. The North Yorkshire Moors National Park spreads inland, criss-crossed with marked paths suitable for everything from gentle afternoon rambles to serious moorland treks.

Mad Alice's Cottage is a three-bedroom, one-bathroom property that sleeps four. The ground floor holds a living and dining space with a smart TV and electric woodburner, plus a kitchen with electric cooking, a microwave, and a washer-dryer. A shower room completes this level. Upstairs are three bedrooms: a double bed and two single beds. An enclosed garden at the back includes a tiered patio and decked seating area, with steps leading up through the garden. One dog stays free. Wi-Fi, electricity, bed linen and towels are included; you'll also find a travel cot and highchair if needed. The cottage is non-smoking.

This works well for families or small groups wanting to base themselves for serious walking or coastal exploration, or simply for a quieter break away from busier seaside towns. The garden offers a degree of privacy, and there is on-road parking outside.
