Cowbar sits on the Cleveland Way, a quiet hamlet perched on the hillside above Staithes. The village itself, with its narrow streets and higgledy-piggledy cottages, was once a major fishing port and remains a working community built into the cliffs. Sea Breeze Cottage is a former miners' cottage from the 1800s, renovated and positioned just yards from the cliff edge, looking out over moorland and countryside.
The property sleeps four across two bedrooms—a double and two singles—with two shower rooms. Downstairs, you have a living room with a multi-fuel burner (fuel included), a dining room with southfacing windows into countryside, and a kitchen equipped for proper cooking. There's a conservatory, parking for one car on site, and a small garden area. Electricity, heating, bed linen and towels are included.
Staithes itself is a short walk down the hill, where you'll find pubs, restaurants and the museum. The beach offers rock pooling and fossil hunting; Whitby is a short drive away. This is walking country—the Cleveland Way passes through, and the Heritage Coast has established cliff-top paths. No smoking indoors.
