Couples and small families will find The Forge works well as a base for exploring the North Yorkshire coast and moors. The cottage has two bedrooms—one with twin beds, one with a king—plus two bathrooms, and you have the whole place to yourselves. Underfloor heating runs through the first floor, and a multi-fuel burner in the living room provides additional warmth on colder days. One dog stays free, with a welcome pack and doggy extras provided; the enclosed courtyard with decking and garden furniture is secure for them to use.
The ground floor holds the kitchen—which has a full set of appliances including a dishwasher—and a separate dining area. Upstairs, the living room opens to a raised terrace through patio doors. Bed linen, towels, Wi-Fi and electricity are all included; heating fuel for the burner is too. The parking allows for one small car. A six-step rise leads to the entrance, and the property sits on a rough track, so it is not easily accessible for mobility difficulties.
Staithes fishing village is three miles away, with traditional pubs, independent shops and a beach; the Cleveland Way coastal path runs nearby, and the area has good cycling routes. Whitby, Runswick Bay and Robin Hoods Bay are all within driving distance. No smoking is permitted inside.
