Couples and small groups looking for a rural retreat will find Little Arches tucked away on a 500-acre working sheep farm near Lochwinnoch. The converted stable sits on the owners' land, surrounded by open countryside ideal for walking straight from the door. A single kingsize bedroom and bathroom occupy the first floor, while downstairs there's a combined living and dining space with French doors opening onto a decked patio where a private hot tub sits enclosed and secluded.

The kitchen is equipped for self-catering, with electric cooking, a dishwasher and the essentials you'd need to prepare meals. Wi-Fi and bed linen are included. Ground-floor access means no internal stairs to navigate. The property takes one car and welcomes one pet. A local pub and shop are within two miles, while the RSPB nature reserve at Castle Semple is also nearby—good for birdwatching or exploring marked trails around the loch. Glasgow lies 20 miles south if you want a day out.

Sadly a negative review: Cleanliness was very poor especially in times of covid, only the very very basic of cleaning is administered, the shower & kitchen areas especially would benefit from a thorough deep clean & regularly maintained . There is need of some repairs & replacements ie: missing tile grout around bath, replace mastic in/around the shower & a really good scrub of shower tile grout to remove black mould, body fats & dirt. Also replacing the shower head would be beneficial. The bedroom consists of 2 single beds zipped together with an ill fitting quilt to cover (king size but needs super king if to remain as 2 single zipped beds) ideally replace bed with a king size bed especially as accommodation is aimed at couples. Water stain marks to hallway ceiling due missing tile grout from upstairs bath allowing water to flow through. Hot Tub lights didn’t work & not all jets but this didn’t stop my hubby using it. There was a few positives to our stay it was lovely & warm throughout our stay, the location was ideal for our needs, the towels & bedding were lovely & clean & smelt delightful albeit mismatched. The issues mentioned have been shared with the owner & we have been assured that they will be rectified. The cottage just needs some regular love & attention, possibly a new cleaner. Some of these issues are mentioned in other reviews on other sites recently & in the past year by past clients Our stay was 22 - 29 October 2021

This was our second stay at this cottage and may well be back again in future. Only reason haven't given it 5 stars is when we stayed in 2018 it was a lot newer and fresher. As you'd expect 5 years of holiday makers and COVID takes it toll but will say the Millers doing a good job on keeping on top of maintenance and lots has also changed with new windows etc in places. If hadn't stayed when it was a 5/5 would probably give it 5 but certain bits like hot tub starting to wear a little bit with only some of the lights now working. But only because we knew how many it used to have. Still 17/20 jets bubbling away and main light works so still a lovely experience. Only negative I can say is although it has internet when we stayed top speed was ~300Kb!!! not sure if that the rural location or if it needs some line repairs somewhere but if hoping to watch Netflix etc then think again. 4G signal is reasonable though so mobile internet for checking places to visit etc is fine.

We absolutely loved our week here, thank you. Nice and secure for the doggo's - they felt very much at home as did we, lots of privacy, great location for our needs and the added luxury of the hot tub was such a treat. We noticed when booking there was some reviews about the cleanliness of the place, we had zero issue with this and found it to be very clean and had all of the amenities we would expect from a self catering cottage. The location is very rural so a car is a must - I think this impacted the WiFi as the strength was very very poor, so if you are a tech addict keep this in mind as you will struggle to stream or load much on your device. (not much of an issue when the location is so gorgeous!) One thing to note is the stairs in the cottage are quite steep/hard to grip so if you have an older dog that likes to follow you around they will struggle with the stairs. Thank you for a wonderful stay, we hope to return soon!
