Family-run touring park on the edge of Salisbury, close to Stonehenge

About Coombe Touring Park

Family-run for several decades, Coombe Touring Park occupies a gently sloping, tree-lined plot on Salisbury's western edge at Netherhampton—within easy reach of the cathedral city and Stonehenge. The layout mixes hardstanding and grass pitches with enough greenery between them to offer shelter and a sense of privacy, avoiding the exposed, regimented feel of some neighbouring parks. Facilities cover the essentials: heated showers and toilets, a campers' kitchen with microwaves and hobs, laundry, and a small shop stocking bread and cakes daily during the main season. A play area with basketball and table tennis keeps children occupied, and there's a dedicated barbecue zone for fine evenings.

Footpaths lead out across surrounding farmland for quieter walks, and a bus route into Salisbury city centre lies a short stroll away. The park welcomes well-behaved dogs and notably skips the bank-holiday and school-holiday supplements charged by many sites nearby. Hardstanding is limited, so advance booking is wise for larger motorhomes.

We have been coming to this EXCELLENT campsite for over 10 years with many of our fellow campers for over 20. The owners Lynda and Richard work really hard to keep the site well maintained and somehow seem to improve it each year too. The showers are lovely. There is an onsite kitchen providing hot water on tap, a communal dining room, on site fridge you can hire, a coffee machine which we often made use of when we used to camp using a tent {now have a caravan}. Fresh bread baked can be ordered night before and collected next day. The site has a well stocked shop. Only a short drive into Salisbury and right next door to Salisbury racecourse so great location to stay on race days. Would HIGHLY RECOMMEND and we look forward to returning again later in the year.

We went weekend of 30 May as it was in between us and some friends it was perfect. From meeting at the office and on entering the site it was fantastic! Catering for campers, caravans and tents we were camping wand friends had a van and tent with power so no problem really well laid out pitches. The view from our pitch over the landscape was amazing! The site facilities are fantastic, hot showers, washing up and other facilities, park and play area, bins water points nearby, benches to eat at by your tent, subtly lighting at night, showers and toilet blocks all great, everything you need. It was a hot weekend and for a few quid you could rent one of he fridges (so for those not fully kitted campers like us compared to friends ) this was ideal cold butter and beer, and there was a free freezer to pop your blocks in. Staff are incredibly hard working, friendly and really helpful. We ordered bread evening before and next morning fresh pastries and breads. No naked fires obviously but brought a gas BBQ and we were in our element! The ground are exceptional and a lot of work goes into the planting and care - puts our home garden to shame! We did a walk to local pub, 30 minute downhill to coombe (not a bad walk back on a cooler day) but we Uber'd it (recent to Salisbury) so luckily we grabbed a cab back after a few! A family run campsite like this with dedicated staff and hard work are the gems you find, we will certainly recommend to friends and will return.

We love it here and have come three years in a row. Lovely campsite that has everything you need. Toilet and shower block is always spotlessly clean (and heated!). Grounds are beautiful, lovely play area for the kids to play and the "roads" around the site are tarmac so great for kids bikes and scooters. Hardstanding pitched are level and spacious. What I really like is the hardstanding is the width of the caravan/camper and surrounded by grass which makes it really nice to set up picinc table etc outside. Great value for money too. Owners are so accommodating and helpful.

This is a little gem of a place the grounds are well kept, the pitch we were given was lovely, it is a family business for over 40 years, the staff at the reception were very welcoming. We stayed at the site and attended the country and Western night at the race course, there is another event at the race course in July, ladies day followed by an ABBA night, we have already booked in.
