Spacious club site at Hudson's Field, a mile and a half from the cathedral

About Salisbury Camping and Caravanning Club Site

This Camping and Caravanning Club site occupies Hudson's Field on Castle Road, a mile and a half north of Salisbury city centre and within sight of the Iron Age earthworks at Old Sarum. The setting is open and grassy with wide views across the surrounding countryside, and the roughly 150 pitches—grass, hardstanding, seasonal options—are spread generously enough that even at peak times it rarely feels cramped.

Facilities are solid and well maintained: modern shower blocks, electric hook-ups, a small shop, and club Wi-Fi. The location just off the ring road makes Stonehenge an easy drive to the north-west, while a footpath and local bus give car-free access into town. Dogs are welcome, and the open aspect over the plain is perfect for early walks straight from your pitch.

Year-round opening sets it apart from many seasonal sites, though non-members pay a modest premium. Some visitors note the toilets can feel a little tired compared to newer club sites, but the space, convenience, and Salisbury's wealth of heritage nearby more than compensate.

Nice site with all the usual facilities. Friendly staff. Pizza van on a Friday tea time. Good walk into Salisbury (20 mins) and great walk up to the Old Sarum. Photo from the Old Sarum, campsite in distance. Closer than it looks. Just stayed one night, could have done two.

Fantastic location within 30 minutes walk of Salisbury City Centre. Very well kept site. Facilities kept very clean and tidy. Plenty of toilets and wash basins but only 4 showers (ladies). There is a second block which I presume is the same. The shower cubicles are huge and have textured tiles on the floors which prevent slipping but watch when you step into the little changing area as these are smooth and lethal when wet. There is a rugby club next door which welcomes campers and if you tell them you are staying on the site you can purchase drinks at members prices. There is only one set of bins at the entrance which is quite a way off if staying at the bottom of the site but are handily placed as you would be passing often. 10 minutes walk away is a lovely Harvester Pub, The Old Castle which is very family friendly and large, so tables are usually available. Opposite The Old Castle is Sarum Ironage Hill Fort and Castle (ruin). If you can manage the walk up this is well worth the effort. The views from the top are amazing. Very interesting history. I would happily visit this site again.

Nice campsite, friendly wardens, clean facilities, convenient for town - either walk along the river 30-40mins or jump on Bus at the top of the road. Hudson field is great for dogs although it is used for sports so pick up after you. The harvester is 5 mins walk away and you can access Old Sarum via Hudson field too. Some pitches need levellers as they are on a slight slope.
