About The Psalter

Cooked breakfasts and Sunday roasts are something of a draw at The Psalter, a 23-room hotel on Psalter Lane in Sheffield. The kitchen has built a reputation for solid, well-prepared food, and there's a bar and restaurant on site along with outdoor seating for when the weather allows. Kids' meals and room service are both available, so the food offering stretches beyond the dining room itself.

The rooms are modern and well-equipped, with en-suite bathrooms, free WiFi, drinks available in-room and family rooms for those travelling with children. Staff have a reputation for being attentive and happy to help beyond the basics, and the whole place has a relaxed, welcoming feel rather than anything stiff or formal. Pets are welcome too, and luggage storage is available for early arrivals or late departures.

Free on-site parking makes The Psalter a practical base for exploring Sheffield, with the cathedral and city centre both within easy reach. There's a golf course nearby along with cycling routes, and pubs, bars and restaurants dotted around the area for evenings out. Given the quality of the rooms and food, prices are considered fair for what's on offer.

From the initial event planning to the big day itself, everything was absolutely seamless. From the moment we arrived for drinks, we were warmly welcomed. We experienced absolutely no stress on the day, as the team took full control to ensure we had a fantastic afternoon. Tom and his team truly understand the meaning of hospitality. We had a party of 23 for a special lunch, and the food was faultless and highly flavoursome. Every single guest raved about it! In fact, one of our guests was so impressed by the standard of the starter that she purchased a gift voucher mid-meal. All in all, we had a fantastic time celebrating my wife’s 40th birthday. The team at The Psalter made it truly special. Thank you very much, and keep doing what you are doing!

We tried The Psalter tasting menu in February and loved it so much we decided to book our wedding reception there. The food was superb! Our guests, who included vegans, vegetarians, and gluten free diets were all equally delighted with the delicious meal. The staff were friendly, efficient and eager to help. The entire event, from the glorious 'snacks' (delicate bite-sized scrumptious creations) through to the starter, main, and dessert, was all equally impressive. We danced away some of the calories afterwards and had a great time. We strongly recommend dining at the Psalter and also hosting events there. Our wedding reception could not have been better. We, and all of our guests, absolutely loved it. Special thanks to Hayley Jacobson for her organisational flair and excellent communication, and to Tom Lawson and his kitchen team for their culinary expertise and wonderful presentation. We stayed in the lovely Chelsea Suite, which was spacious and comfortable, and had a fantastic breakfast the next day.

We had my Mum's 80th on Saturday from start to finish the whole team could not have been more helpful or accommodating. The food was delicious we choose the cold buffet and everyone commented how nice different and tasty it was The room was perfect and we were able to add our own decorations too. As I mixed age range from 7 to 80+ everyone had a fantastic time Thank you from the daughter with the mum who doesn't act look she is 80! Would highly recommend x

Had such a lovely birthday meal here with my partner. We went for the tasting menu and honestly every dish was spot on, really tasty and nicely presented without being over the top. Big shoutout to the chefs & to the restaurant manger, Katie, who looked after us all evening, she was super friendly and made the whole experience even better. Just a really nice atmosphere and everything felt easy and well-paced. Would definitely come back and recommend if you’re looking for somewhere a bit special but still relaxed.
