Lower Lacon Caravan Park

we’ve just come home from an amazing sunday to tuesday stay and honestly couldn’t recommend this place enough. it was so lovely and peaceful, and because we came during a quieter part of the week we felt like we had our own little corner of the campsite, which made it even more relaxing. the facilities were always clean, the swimming pool was brilliant, and the whole site was really well looked after. the staff were all so friendly, welcoming and helpful from the moment we arrived. nothing ever felt like too much trouble, they took the time to help whenever we needed anything and made us feel really welcome throughout our stay. the best part for us was simply how much we enjoyed being there. we made so many amazing memories over the few days and genuinely didn’t want to leave. we were all saying on the drive home that we wished we’d booked for longer! thank you so much for such a lovely stay – we’ll definitely be returning in august!

We recently stayed at a campsite Lower Lacon Caravan Park for a campervan weekend break, and unfortunately it was a very disappointing experience from start to finish. We were pitched right up in the top left-hand hard standing area of the campsite, tucked away in a corner and completely out of anybody’s way. During a 32-degree weekend, we put up a small gazebo purely for shade and shelter, yet staff insisted we take it down. The way this was handled was unnecessary and came across as rude and patronising, especially from an older staff member named Darren, which immediately made us feel unwelcome. The facilities were also extremely poor. The toilets were consistently dirty every time we used them, clearly understaffed and not maintained properly throughout the day. It felt like cleanliness and customer experience were not a priority at all. The pool rules were another frustration — only 45 minutes allowed per session and you can only book once per day, which felt overly restrictive, especially during hot weather when families naturally want to make use of the facilities. Overall, the atmosphere was not enjoyable and the whole stay felt stressful rather than relaxing. I honestly would not recommend this campsite, particularly the hard standing pitches on the upper left-hand side. If I could give zero stars, I would, but unfortunately one star is the lowest possible. We will definitely not be returning.

After reading comments we was unsure but we booked this site and honestly couldn't complain. Easy check in, met at your pitch and the marshal will tell you everything. Plenty of room between pitches on our section. There's different sections e.g family, quiet, no dogs etc so a section for everyone. There was two shower/toilet blocks, two laundry rooms and two parks. One is one side of the park and the other, the other side. Yes the toilets/shower are abit older but honestly we had no problem the showers where hot, the whole place was clean including the toilets. Only thing is wish the shower stayed on abit longer before pressing the button again. There was a lovely wooded walk to different parts of the site, there was a shop that was stocked with alot and cheap fire wood, there's also a mini golf, adult only bar with darts and pool table and then a bar/kids entertainment at the other end. At times it was noisy but the marshals would drive around and after 11 it was complete silence. It's in a good location can drive to places or can have a nice walk into Wem. There is an outdoor pool but that doesn't open until end of may. Plenty of washing up areas, that are covered and have lights and plenty of bins around. We'd go again.

Camping onsite with a family, site is well maintained, added bonus of animals to pet on site. Swimming pool, grazy golf, play parks for children. Fair priced well stocked shop. Friendly and helpful staff. Nice sized well marked pitches. 1 way driving system might be better but it works well as is still. Walks through the woodland path to the toilets is lovely. As well as practical. Good showers, lights are on a timer so dont shower after midnight without a torch with you. Floors can be a lottle slippy so be aware, maybe there could be a squeegee for users to do the floor after shower. Will definitely recommend and try to visit again
