Hope Cottage

Shropshire

View on Google Maps

Hope Cottage is a detached conversion on the grounds of Lurkenhope Farm, a working sheep and cattle property deep in the Shropshire hills. You arrive via a stone track off the main road and park on site. The cottage itself was once a milking parlour; it now comprises two floors, recently refurbished with new kitchen, engineered wood flooring, oak-framed windows and hybrid electric heating.

Downstairs you'll find a joined living and dining room with woodburner, separate kitchen with electric cooker and dishwasher, and entrance porch. Upstairs are a kingsize bedroom and a bathroom with bath and shower. Bed linen, towels and wifi are provided; heating and initial wood for the burner are included in the stay. The property doesn't welcome smoking.

This is walking country. Long-distance paths start from the doorstep, and cycling routes—both on and off-road—can be arranged. The Elan Valley's scenic dams near Rhayader are roughly 40 minutes away. Historic Ludlow and Bishops Castle, along with various castles reflecting the Welsh Marches' heritage, lie within easy reach. The nearby Lurkenhope Nature Reserve offers further exploration for anyone drawn to the landscape rather than the towns.
