Photo: Mashers Barn

Masher's Barn is a restored barn conversion in Chapel Lawn, a hamlet between Clun and Bucknell. Original timber beams and wood floors run through the property, which has been adapted for modern living while keeping its character intact. The whole place is yours alone, with parking for two cars on site and room to bring one dog at no extra cost.

Downstairs, a spacious open-plan room combines living and dining areas, with a kitchen equipped for cooking proper meals—electric oven, dishwasher, microwave and full-sized fridge included. French doors open to a patio and large garden, where a barbecue is ready to use. There's a utility room with washing machine, tumble dryer and freezer. Upstairs, one bedroom has two single beds with an ensuite shower; the other has a double bed with a full bath and shower over. Both bedrooms have their own bathrooms. Wi-Fi, electricity, bed linen and towels come as standard, and there's a cot and highchair if you need them. A bike store is on hand if you've brought cycles.

The location suits quiet countryside breaks within striking distance of Clun Castle and Ludlow's medieval streets. The nearest pub and restaurant are about three and a half miles away; a shop is four miles distant. No smoking throughout.

Mashers Barn is a comfortable and spacious place to stay, quiet and peaceful in lovely surroundings. It was extremely clean and well laid out with everything you could need for a week's stay. There is plenty to visit in the area from towns to museums to river walks and hill climbing. Would definitely recommend it.

We have stayed here six times since 2010...we absolutely love it at Masher's Barn. The property is immaculate, spacious and comfortable. The enclosed garden is great for my dog to run around. The area is lovely with lots of walks, pubs, places of interest etc. We're going back again in the Autumn!
