Poundgate Lodge
Shropshire
The Welsh Marches around Knighton offer some of Britain's most varied walking country, and Poundgate Lodge puts you at its centre. Footpaths lead straight from the property into rolling hill country where you can spend hours on marked trails, with Offa's Dyke Path itself within reach for longer expeditions. The border town of Knighton lies nearby with its pubs, shops and riverside walks if you want to venture further.
This ground-floor lodge sleeps four across two bedrooms—one with zip-and-link beds (two singles or a king), the other with a kingsize—and comes with a full bathroom plus ensuite shower room. The open-plan living space has an electric woodburner and French doors to a patio; the kitchen is equipped for proper cooking, with hob, oven, microwave, air fryer and coffee machine. Wifi, heating, bed linen and towels are included. There is private parking for two cars and an enclosed garden with furniture. One well-behaved dog stays free. The property operates on a private water supply.
This suits dog owners, families with children (travel cots and highchairs can be arranged), and anyone who wants to walk daily without driving to a trailhead. The no-smoking policy applies throughout.
