About Premier Inn Solihull South M42
Free on-site parking to the front and side of the hotel is one of the first things guests notice at Premier Inn Solihull South M42, a 79-room hotel on Stratford Road. Spread across two floors, the rooms are en-suite with drinks-making facilities, and accessible rooms are available; some travellers have found the upkeep a little inconsistent, so it is worth flagging anything amiss to the 24-hour reception on arrival.
A restaurant and bar cover breakfast and evening meals, with a continental breakfast selection that guests regularly single out as a strong point, alongside staff who are consistently described as friendly and accommodating. An electric vehicle charge point is on site for those who need it.
The location suits both business and leisure stays, with Birmingham and Touchwood Shopping Centre within easy reach, and National Trust estates nearby for a day out. Golf, fishing, horse riding, entertainment venues and a pub are all close by, making it a practical base for exploring the wider Solihull area.

A great hotel if you’re trying to save some money when visiting Birmingham as it’s just a 15 min trip in the train. This is a very dated premier inn, no air-con, no USB, no HDMI connector on the desk, only mains on one side of bed. It has a bath rather than the usual shower cubicle that most have. They do a great full English breakfast as per all premier inn hotels. It’s worth noting that the restaurant is not easy to find as there are no signs for it. You have to go down a corridor to rooms and it’s on the left called “The Social” it’s quite a small restaurant but well worth it for the great value breakfast. All staff were very friendly and welcoming. It has a large car park. Due to the lack of Aircon the room can get rather hot, it was 27C in the room even at 8am and due to the window having a restricting opener it meant it was impossible to get rid of the heat out the room. They do however give you a very powerful fancy orbital high power fan. I would recommend this hotel for its price, just don’t expect it to be same as other hotels in their chain.

Booked for 3 nights On the whole it was just fine...Just standard... Could have got a much nicer experience for same money. 1st night sink was blocked... So had to use the bath for washing brushing etc... Toilet seat is yellowish..seems From staining rather than ageing. Curtains looked dusty... Lots of dust in the wall lamps above beds...hotels should use designs that are easy to clean rather than trap dust. After 2nd night requested room service for cleaning... Raised to reception on way out and left the tag on handle.... Came back at night.... Only to find it was not even hoovered... I was wondering if I have paid the full amount, I deserve the full service... I am very reluctant in leaving negative comments... I am just a bit upset if they charge me so much per night but only deliver half the service... I think there is room for improvement. Would welcome partial refund for the level of service.

We stayed here for a long weekend. The rooms were clean and tidy, with fans supplied. The rooms have everything you need. But honestly its the staff that were rhe best. Friendly and attentive. Would stay here again.

Without doubt despite advertising some renovation is going on, this Premier Inn should not be charging full whack whilst it's carried out because guests are more inconvenienced than they should be with noise and builders talking outside rooms from 7am and skips arriving before 8am. The car park is like a bomb site which is not acceptable even during refurbishment and if you can't keep it safe, close the hotel whilst you do the refurb. Aside from that the hotel itself is tired and shabby and desperately in need of a major refurbishment. The room was hot, stuffy and did not smell pleasant at all, very unhealthy air which even open windows and a fan couldn't resolve. The bed linen did not look like the usual pristine white Premier Inn standard we've been used to in the past. Receptionist was disinterested and spoke like reading off a very boring cue card. Asked if we wanted to book for evening meal or breakfast to which we confirmed yes please evening meal ....sorry we're fully booked ???? Doubt restaurant was fully booked as 10 cars tops in the entire car park and looked empty from outside when we went to eat somewhere else. To top it off the cleaners tried to come in before we'd even checked out. Only plus was the proximity to the town centre and where we needed to be. Majorly put us off booking any Premier Inn again. Need to get your act together, because £81 for a smelly, stuffy, not too clean and very noisy room is far from acceptable. 2 stars purely for the location only.

Some reviews mention the rooms can be neglected.
