Longmead Country Escapes - Rabbit Hole

Photo: Michael Gregory

Rabbit Hole is a detached lodge near Cheddar with three bedrooms and three bathrooms across a single ground floor. You'll walk into an open-plan living space with kitchen, dining area and lounge, where a gas stove and electric woodburner provide warmth. The kitchen is fitted with a gas oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge and coffee machine, so you can cook as much or as little as you like. One bedroom has a kingsize bed and its own ensuite shower room; the other two have twin single beds each, and a separate family bathroom with bath and shower serves those rooms.

Outside, a front garden has seating and furniture for watching the countryside. Parking for four cars is on site. Wi-Fi, bed linen, towels and heating are all included, and one pet can stay free. The property is non-smoking. From here, Cheddar Gorge and its limestone cliffs are within reach for walkers and cyclists, and nearby attractions include Cheddar Woods Resort & Spa, which sits less than 100 yards away.

Fantastic accommodation and a beautiful setting. Great security, with a electronic gate, so nobody wandering around only people on the site.

Lovely lodge especially as we were able to take our dog. Very central to visiting places. Would definitely recommend

Lovely lodge. Second visit to Longmead Lodges. Stayed in the Kingfisher lodge this time and it was perfect. Homely, comfortable and very clean. Beds were very comfortable. Owners had followed Covid guidelines perfectly, even installed hand sanitizer at the entrace to the site as well as by the lodge door. The only very minor issue was lack of kitchen utensils, but, it was very minor and these bits were cheap enough to buy, if like us, you forget to take them with you. Half an hour drive to Weston Super Mare. Hour drive to Longleat Safari park. Cheddar caves and gorge, just up the road and a beautiful place to visit. Closest shop is a petrol station, and they're quite expensive, but it is a 2 Mile walk (there and back) to Co-op and about a 2/3 mile walk to Tesco, both roughly 5 mins away in the car. Lovely gift of wine and chocolate awaiting us on our arrival. Lovely and quiet, can hear the odd bit of traffic when windows are open, but that's usually if it's a motorbike, loud car or a lorry. Perfect for a base, as there is no on site activities, but plenty to do in surrounding areas.

October 2019 Woodpecker Lodge We had a lovely stay. Clean, well-equipped, modern lodge. Welcome pack of wine and chocolates on arrival was a nice touch. Good location from which to explore the area. Few things to note: - Kettle had dodgy connection on base. Needed replacing. - Mattresses on single beds were far too soft. - Woodpecker Lodge's proximity to the road should be mentioned in description. Road noise noticeable but not too intrusive. Light sleepers may want to book lodge further away from the entrance to the park.
