You step into a single-storey cottage where everything is arranged on one level—living space, bedrooms and bathroom all ground floor. The open-plan living and dining room has a wood burner and patio doors that open onto a private garden with furniture and hot tub. A fitted kitchen is equipped for proper cooking, with oven, hob, dishwasher and full refrigeration. One bedroom contains a kingsize bed; the other has two singles. The bathroom has a bath, shower cubicle and heated towel rail.
The cottage stands on 10 acres of farmland between Castle Cary and Yeovil, with parking for two cars on site and a bike store. Bed linen, towels and wi-fi are included; heating runs from May to September, and logs for the wood burner are provided from November to April. One dog stays free. The property is non-smoking, and a step leads into the garden. The Haynes Motor Museum and Yeovilton Fleet Air Arm Museum are nearby, as are Montacute House and the spa town of Wells. Longer drives reach Stourhead, Glastonbury, Longleat and Cheddar Gorge.

We have just returned home from another amazing stay at Midknowles, The Barn. As always Lorraine and Kevin are the most amazing hosts and are so friendly, its like visiting family. The Barn itself is immaculate, clean, homely and has everything you could need. From the minute you pull up onto the drive you can feel yourself relaxing, the beautiful view, the birds singing, the hot tub and the welcome goodies. We would highly recommend Midknowles Barn, Cottage and the Snug. We are already looking at when we can return next year. Thanks Lorraine and Kevin for all your hard work, time, chats and day out suggestions. See you both next year x

We had a lovely time in The Barn. Perfect facilities. Enclosed field for the pooch to gallop around in, even a swing-seat out there so you can sit and enjoy the surrounding countryside while your dog mooches about. A very pleasant stay. Would go again happily.

What a beautiful place! Ideal for a quiet get away. The Barn where we stayed was very clean and tidy with all the amenities you need. The back opens to a small garden with hot tub. Its very private. The garden then opens up onto fields, perfect for walking the dogs and letting the kids run around. If the sky is clear at night its perfect for star gazing as there is no light pollution. The couple who rent out these beautiful cottages are absolutely lovely, very helpful, approachable and friendly. We were advised of places to visit, which we did and were not disappointed. We will defiantly be returning for another visit Thank you for a wonderful time.
