Couples and small families looking for a quiet base in Somerset will find The Snug on Midknowle Farm works well. This single-storey cottage sits on the edge of the countryside between Castle Cary and Yeovil, with 10 acres of shared grounds to explore on foot. One bedroom with a double bed, a shower room, and a combined living and dining space mean everything is on ground level and easy to navigate.
The kitchen is equipped for cooking proper meals—electric oven and hob, dishwasher, microwave, fridge and freezer all present. A woodburner warms the living area on cooler months, and the heating system covers the rest of the year. Bed linen, towels, Wi-Fi and electricity are included; logs for the burner come with the booking from November through March. Outside, a small front garden has a sitting area with furniture and parking for two cars on site. One dog travels free.
Local attractions include Haynes Motor Museum and Yeovilton Fleet Air Arm Museum within reach of the drive, historic houses like Montacute dotted across the region, and walking routes through the Somerset countryside. Glastonbury, Clarks Village and Wells Cathedral are straightforward drives away. The nearest pub, restaurant and shop are under two miles off. No smoking indoors.

We have just returned home from another amazing stay at Midknowles, The Barn. As always Lorraine and Kevin are the most amazing hosts and are so friendly, its like visiting family. The Barn itself is immaculate, clean, homely and has everything you could need. From the minute you pull up onto the drive you can feel yourself relaxing, the beautiful view, the birds singing, the hot tub and the welcome goodies. We would highly recommend Midknowles Barn, Cottage and the Snug. We are already looking at when we can return next year. Thanks Lorraine and Kevin for all your hard work, time, chats and day out suggestions. See you both next year x

We had a lovely time in The Barn. Perfect facilities. Enclosed field for the pooch to gallop around in, even a swing-seat out there so you can sit and enjoy the surrounding countryside while your dog mooches about. A very pleasant stay. Would go again happily.

What a beautiful place! Ideal for a quiet get away. The Barn where we stayed was very clean and tidy with all the amenities you need. The back opens to a small garden with hot tub. Its very private. The garden then opens up onto fields, perfect for walking the dogs and letting the kids run around. If the sky is clear at night its perfect for star gazing as there is no light pollution. The couple who rent out these beautiful cottages are absolutely lovely, very helpful, approachable and friendly. We were advised of places to visit, which we did and were not disappointed. We will defiantly be returning for another visit Thank you for a wonderful time.
