What visitors say

We enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea, overlooking the beautiful gardens. The food was gorgeous and the regular top ups of tea & coffee were very welcome. The staff were so pleasant and very efficient, with plenty of checks to ensure everything was to our liking. Afterwards we explored the stunning grounds taking in the amazing far reaching views. We would highly recommend a visit, the hall, location, staff, service and food were all wonderfull!! 😊 We will certainly be returning.

We visited Wartley Hall for a charity classic car show, their was my eldest son, wife and myself. Wartley Hall was not only a perfect setting for this venue but would be great for any! The Hall was open and I had a good snoop around, for a old building it was in good shape, some areas like on the landing ceiling was in need of a little repair, but it was lovely. The Staff all around the ground were nice and polite and made a point of asking if everyone was OK. We will visit again, just for a afternoon tea and to sit outside enjoying the surroundings.

Lovely little spot. Some incredible scenery and great location on the outskirts of Barnsley. I've never actually stayed here but I imagine it'll be a worthwhile experience. I often ride up there in my bikes just because I can!

We stayed here overnight as attended a wedding here. Like a lot of old buildings, first impression was good as quite stately, however like a lot of old buildings needs some tlc and an injection of cash to bring it up to scratch. Reception staff very friendly as were all the staff we met. Our room on first impression was nice, high ceilings, nice en- suite, large bed, excellent views,TV, kettle etc. The bed was uncomfortable but as only 1 night I didn't complain, however my sister did as staying 3 nights, but was immediately moved with no fuss. We had a tiny wardrobe which personally I would have dumped and replaced with hangars on the wall, the room was big so would have worked. Not much storage in the bathroom, again a couple of hooks wouldn't have gone amiss or a bit more shelving. The shower itself had good water pressure so all good there. Didn't notice any usb ports so make sure you take your charger with you, plenty of electrical sockets in our room. High windows, the old sash variety,a little stiff but unlike some modern hotels at least you can open them. Breakfast was excellent with all your normal option. However, our primary reason for being there, was to attend a wedding and here Wortly hall ticks all the box. The wedding ceremony was in a lovely room and after that, guests could spill out onto the terrace and grounds. The weather was fantastic so it was a real treat to wander around the grounds. If you're thinking of using this as a wedding venue, you won't be disappointed. I believe they offer sorts of wedding packages but you would need to have a look at the website. I can forgive the little things as overall,we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there.
