Adults-only B&B in a garden setting near St Austell, well placed for the Eden Project and Lost Gardens of Heligan.

About The Old Vicarage

Cornwall's countryside around St Austell provides the backdrop for The Old Vicarage, a peaceful adults-only B&B with its own garden and outdoor seating area for taking in the surroundings. It's a quiet base for exploring the county, with the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan both within easy reach.

Rooms come with en-suite bathrooms and drinks provided, and free WiFi is available throughout. Breakfast is included, and reception operates around the clock, so arrival times are flexible. Free on-site parking makes driving into the wider area straightforward.

Golf and fishing can both be arranged nearby, and there are pubs, restaurants and other eateries within easy distance for evenings out. It's a settled, adults-only spot for those wanting Cornwall's gardens and coastline without the extra noise.

Andy and Wendy were lovely hosts and we're very accommodating. The hotel is in a lovely setting in a beautiful village! We stayed in Rashleigh room which is the largest, it was very clean and comfortable and overlooked the gardens. This is our 2nd visit and my husband said he preferred the shower in the Eden room but loved the bath in Rashleigh😊The breakfast was very nice and plentiful and Wendy even got me alternative fruit and yogurt as I didn't! want a cooked breakfast. The only downside was the covid restrictions which were understandable but it did stop us from being more relaxed in our room! That said given the opportunity we will go back again!

Lovely self contained, self catering accommodation lovely gardens. Shame they didn't sound proof the adjoining wall as noise transfer can be heard in the kitchen/living area through the adjoining door/wall. Andy was very pleasant and helpful when we arrived, however female extremely rude when we had a visitor (family) who was told to leave the premises for no reason ? I'm confused if it was down to covid as they also ran a B/B within the same property and we didn't break any government rules and our accommodation was self contained we did not mix with other visitors to the property. The females attitude was inappropriate and spoilt our stay.

I have to write this on here as it concerns us that the reviews from the Sykes holiday site pertaining to the Old Vicarage retreat do not reflect a total perception. We are down to earth and look for quality, comfort and value for money. We stayed early August. Vicarage Retreat is pleasant, well presented and well equipped. There is nothing in the advert stating its attached to the main building, a bed and breakfast. There is no sound proofing between that and the retreat. There is a single locked internal down separating the two buildings. Morning is clattering of pots,, beating of eggs, and unsurpressed conversation all be it only lasting about an hour, non the less leaving you feeling uncomfortable and not private. One occasion a washing machine was vibrating through the wall, not good! The patio area out side is surrounded by overgrown vegitation and overlooked by the bed and breakfast accommodation adjacent to the retreat. Not private and unable to relax or feel secluded outside. Inside is very well presented however the recling sofa is not connected so upright seating only. One of the most frustrating issues we had was the shower, nothing more than a watering can flow ! Not what you need to start and finish the day. Would we stay again NO ! You can get much more for your money. We only booked as our normal retreat a few miles away, cheaper with fantastic views and layout was booked up.
