About Oak Deer Country Park
Tucked into the rural village of Hixon, Oak Deer Country Park is a small, friendly site with far-reaching countryside views and those famously vibrant Staffordshire sunsets on clear evenings. Pitches – grass and hardstanding, with optional electric hook-ups – are well-tended and peaceful, backed by a dedicated dog-exercise field and easy access to the Trent and Mersey Canal towpath for longer walks. The atmosphere here is relaxed and low-key, perfect if you're seeking somewhere undemanding to unwind.
On-site facilities are straightforward – drinking-water standpipes, pay-as-you-go electricity, and a unisex toilet – and path lighting keeps things navigable after dark (though it switches off at midnight). The village itself is remarkably handy: a convenience store, a couple of takeaways, and a pub all lie within a five-minute stroll. Reviewers also praise the nearby reservoir's walking trails and play area, plus regular sightings of deer, swans, and ducks around the wider country park.

What visitors say
Pleasantly surprised. Nice area to go for a walk, takes about an hour to hour and a half to walk around the lake. Signage could be a little better and some routes are closed (the boardwalks require some repairs). Cheap all day parking at £3.50. Plenty of grass areas to kick a ball around

This is a lovely place for a walk, run or bike ride. It's hosts park run on Saturday mornings which covers 1 lap of the reservoir being 5k. Around 350 people take part and are there between 8.30am - 10am. The parking is cheap £1.20 for 2 hours and plenty of it available. There are toilets in the Innovation centre and a a lovely little cabin to get a drink or ice-cream from. Very often you can see deer over the far side of the reservoir so take your camera.

Nice place to visit. There are several walking paths, picnic tables, and playgrounds; an additional attraction is the railway station, offering the chance to take a short ride on a vintage train.

Great for a good walk round at around 5k end to end. Only £1.20 for parking is also great value. The centre has a cafe and toilets so all facilities you would need. Very often see deer hiding in the trees.
