Cedar Cottage is a sympathetically converted barn at Broadhurst Farm, part of a courtyard development on the fringe of the Peak District National Park. The building retains its character while offering modern holiday accommodation for up to six guests across two bedrooms and a bathroom. One bedroom has a double bed and bunk beds; the other contains two singles. Downstairs, an open-plan kitchen and dining room flows into a sitting room with television and DVD player, and there is an enclosed garden shared with other properties on the farm.

The cottage comes with essentials covered: heating, electricity, bed linen and superfast broadband are all included. The kitchen is equipped for self-catering, with electric cooker, microwave, fridge and freezer. A washing machine is on hand, and there is access to a coin-operated tumble dryer in the laundry room. For an additional cost, you can heat the private hot tub. Families travelling with young children will find a travel cot and highchair available. One pet is welcome. Smoking is not permitted.

Location-wise, the farm sits roughly six miles from Alton Towers, with Dovedale and the market towns of Ashbourne, Leek, Matlock and Bakewell within easy reach. The Manifold Valley, known for one of England's best cycle trails, is nearby. A shop, pub and restaurant are about a mile away. On-site parking means you can explore the surrounding countryside from a settled base.

Lovely location and an ideal cottage providing value for money, especially when travelling with children. We paid additional for the hottub , unfortunately this was not set correctly on the first day. However, the owners could not have been more helpful; we were refunded and by the next day it was up and running. The interior of the cottage could do with a refresh but it was comfortable and clean with ample space, lovely and warm with constant hot water. Overall I think this is excellent value for money and in a perfect spot to explore Ashbourne and visit local attractions.

Lovely place for a weekend away with friends. Property furnishings looking a bit tired and mattress in downstairs room very soft and uncomfortable. Overall, a clean and comfortable house, that was great for our yearly girls weekend away!

This is our second stay here. Great experiences both times. Hosts live on site so on hand if you need them. All the cottages are ample sized. Really enjoy the hot tubs. The pig, rabbits and horses on the farm are lovely and we enjoyed them. Great shared garden area for kicking a ball around. Nice courtyard around the front which has the sun later in the day. Nice stroll into the village of about a mile and lots of lovely countryside walks as well.
