Dukes Cottage sits on active farmland in the Staffordshire Moorlands, a landscape of rolling fields and small villages. The immediate area has a pub within walking distance, and the moorland itself is suited to exploring on foot or by bike—a bike store is available on site. The conversion itself is set back from the road with private parking for one car.

Inside, the ground floor is one open space containing the kitchen, dining and living areas, with a smart TV and underfloor heating throughout. Upstairs, a galleried bedroom with a kingsize bed and an en-suite shower completes the layout. The cottage is yours alone—it sleeps two, and there is no shared access to other guests. An enclosed courtyard with seating opens onto a wider garden area with views across the fields. Electricity, bed linen and towels are provided.

The setting is genuinely rural: the property is a working farm, so early morning farm sounds are part of the experience. Smoking is not permitted. Babies in arms are welcome; older children are not.

just like visiting the most caring, cozy grandparents. the house itself is the definition of comfy - warm fires and a lovely antique atmosphere. the hosts are so kind and friendly, with the most wonderful pups! waking up to the offer of a lovely cooked breakfast is just the cherry ontop of the already perfect pie. couldn't suggest the farm more!!!!

Chris & Margaret who run The Manor House Farm are amazing people. They were so laid back, and always working around the House and Garden to keep it at it's best. They'll go out of their way to help with any dietary needs. My sister is a nervous eater and they made her feel right at home without pressuring her to try what they've brought. We felt like we were living with a family. The gardens are like a magical fairy land in the spring, the smell of cut grass and the well kept plants. Lots of amazing artifacts and secret sitting areas. Chris & Margaret deserve more credit that what is given online. Will hopefully be back again soon. Plus they have 2 beautiful Dogs :) The Breakfast doesn't let you down, as they provide everything with a warm welcome in the mornings. Please let them know a time for breakfasts, as it's fare for both sides. The Bedrooms are very well kept and a step back in time. Elegant, stylish and cosy. They even tidy your room and top up everything. Thanks for having us :)

I've stayed here several times over the years and it's been a real treat every single time. The location is absolutely stunning - set amongst a lovely garden, the building itself (which is hundreds of years old!) is bursting with character. Tonnes of antiques and authentic rustic furniture in every cosy and crooked room. Hosts are two of the most genuine people I've met - Chris and Margaret are exceptionally accomodating and no request is too silly or small (plus Barty is a great dog, need to come back to meet Tipper!). If you're visiting Alton Towers, then I'd strongly suggest staying here if possible - it's a very nice experience and it's only a short 10min drive to the park (or a 30min walk through the woods if you're feeling adventurous). Honestly I couldn't recommend the farm enough - had many excellent trips here and I can't wait to come again at some point. -Morgan

Where to start. What a wonderful wonderful place to stay. The farmhouse dates back to the 1700s and is full of superb antique furniture. Our bedroom had a four poster bed which was so comfortable. Very spacious with a large en suite bathroom. You have so much space and can use the lounge whenever you feel like it. There garden has to be seen to be believed. If you love gardens, flowers trees etc then this is the place for you. We walked around it a few times and just kept finding more and more each time. So many places to sit and take in the superb scenery. It is like a picture postcard. Breakfast is very special. You certainly won't need lunch. Just try that fried bread. The sausages are probably the best we have ever had. The breakfast room is laid out to the style of the house with a large table that is so beautiful to eat from. I have saved the best until last. The hosts. Margaret and Chris. You are made to feel so welcome. They love to chat and believe me Chris has some great stories to tell. He made us laugh throughout our stay and Margaret was so kind to give my wife some cuttings of a plant she admired. I cannot recommend this b and b highly enough. Thank you so much for a truly pleasurable stay. Simon and Kim.
