You arrive at Throwley Cottage to find yourself surrounded by fields, with parking for three cars and a sense of genuine countryside quiet. The detached property sits on the outskirts of Ashbourne in the Staffordshire Moorlands, with views across the Peak District landscape. The ground floor holds the main living spaces: a kitchen with electric cooker, dishwasher and all the basics for self-catering; a dining table; a living room with smart TV and open fire; and a shower room. Fuel for the fire is included. Upstairs are three bedrooms—one double, one double with single, and one twin—plus a bathroom with bath and toilet.

The cottage sleeps seven and comes with bed linen, towels, wi-fi and electricity all covered. Outside, a fenced garden allows space to play or relax, with furniture and a barbecue. A bike rack is provided for exploring the trails nearby. The property is within reach of Dovedale, the Manifold Trail and Tissington Trail, and a short drive from Alton Towers. The nearest pub and restaurant are 3¾ miles away. One well-behaved dog is welcome. No smoking indoors.

We had the most fabulous time here. The house has a real charm (the photos don't do it justice). The table tennis was a big hit with our group. The kitchen was well equipped and the beds comfy (duvets perhaps a little too warm (July)). The access track is a proper farm track so wouldn't advise bringing your flash Supercar. Hosts were very hands off but farmer happy to chat to us by the back gate. Simply glorious for a weekend with friends.

Excellent cottage with plenty of room. Amenities are very good, wifi is excellent. Very remote which is brilliant. Lovely countryside around it.

I really recommend this cottage as a group getaway. It's cosy, peaceful, with plenty of room. Sue is a helpful, friendly host who put those little extra comforts in the cottage to make it a wonderful weekend away.
