The Slad Valley, immortalised in Laurie Lee's writing, is a quiet fold of countryside within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Driftcombe Farmhouse occupies 1.5 acres here, surrounded by woodland and meadow with a stream running through the grounds. The 17th-century building has been restored but keeps its rural character, reached by an unmade track that can be difficult in snow or heavy rain. Stroud is 4 miles away; Cheltenham lies 14 miles south.
Inside, the farmhouse holds three bedrooms—a double, two singles, and another single—plus one bathroom. The ground floor has a living and dining area with an open fire and Freeview, and a kitchen equipped for proper cooking, with electric oven, dishwasher, washing machine and air fryer among its appliances. Bed linen and Wi-Fi are included, and there is parking for three cars on site. One well-behaved pet stays free.
The grounds offer table tennis outdoors, garden furniture, and a sitting area. The property suits families wanting to explore walking and bird-watching, or anyone seeking genuine seclusion. Note that stairs are steep and narrow in places, and the stream and open ground need supervision with small children. Horse riding is available 2 miles away, and a shop lies the same distance. The property does not permit smoking.

Very comfortable holiday cottage at the base of a valley. Only downside is hikers getting lost and trampling the garden at the weekends

We have booked for a week with my family and it was great! Location is excellent, Cottage lay's in a valley surrounded with amazing forest with his animals like foxes, badgers, deers, snakes, squirrels ect..Only the way to de cottage can be tricky for the first time, so caution! Cottage is well equipment, all comfort what you need for a vacation. Children can play around, there's a water stream, pingpong table and others toys to play with. There's a ton of walk routes around the Cottage that we walked, kids loved it, also the camp fire's we made. We had a very good time here, we like the silents of the forest and the birdsongs in de morning. First day we had a very warm welcome from the neighbour Neil and his lovely dog Hetty with 3 pots of delicious honey from his own bee's. This is the place for 'peace and quiet' what we say in the Netherlands, we come back for sure! Thanks for everything!
