A seventeenth-century malthouse converted into a luxury holiday home, The Malthouse stands on the grounds of Wrockwardine Hall in a village between Shrewsbury and Telford. The building retains its historical character while offering contemporary comfort across two storeys. Downstairs, an open-plan living and dining space includes a woodburning stove, and the kitchen is equipped for proper cooking with a gas hob and electric oven. Upstairs, two kingsize bedrooms and a shower room complete the layout. Wi-Fi, electricity, bed linen, towels and initial fuel for the stove come as standard.

The location puts you within reach of several Shropshire attractions: Ironbridge Gorge and its museums, Attingham Park, Ludlow with its castle and racecourse, the medieval streets of Shrewsbury, and the Severn Valley Steam Railway. A shop is 200 yards away and a pub or restaurant about a mile. One dog is welcome. Note that the property has open spiral stairs. Smoking is not permitted.

Me and my partner stayed here on Saturday just gone. Barman who checked us in was rude towards us simply said to us both “ did you get all that information I gave to the people before you “, showed us to our Garden suit room and as soon as he open the door got hit with a fusty smell, carpet dirty, dust everywhere/cobwebs etc… looks like it could do with a deep clean. They had a massive TV screen right outside our room were we could hear the football all night until it finished and even the band what was playing, came down to breakfast the following morning which was nice but the mugs were dirty with tea marks still in them and the glasses were dirty as well. I had a hair in my breakfast bowl over all we wouldn’t stay here again!

Such a beautiful place, I loved staying at the pub. It was during the world cup, not to loud, and the crowd were pleasent. Lovely atmosphere.

The standard of pubs in Ironbridge is very high. Consequently, The Malthouse has to deliver. And it does that in spades. A great stocked bar, selling mainstream and craft beers. Wines and spirits a plenty. Brilliant staff. Comfortable indoors and out. Highly recommended. Cheers 🍻 x
