Morndyke Shepherds' Huts

Location: Morndyke Shepherd's Huts Tucked away on a working farm, this charming glamping site features five beautifully finished huts, each named after Beatrix Potter bunnies. The huts are part of a dedicated area separate from the main farm, with its own peaceful fishing lake and a rustic parrot sanctuary. 🦜 “which all proceeds go to to after expenses” There's ample parking and a communal hut known as The Washroom, where you can purchase essentials, do laundry, and find extra blankets. Bedding, towels, and kitchenware are all provided in the huts. The Hut Experience: These are traditional Shepherd’s huts/gypsy carts—compact yet stylish and thoughtfully designed. Ours had a double bed and a bunk bed, a small kitchen with portable stoves, and a shower bathroom. It’s finished to a high standard with a whimsical fairytale-meets-rustic-farm vibe. The beds were very comfortable, with good-quality mattresses, plush pillows, and soft, high-quality bedding that made it easy to get a great night's sleep. Delightful touches like sheep-shaped shutters, stained glass panels, and tiny hidden sewn mice keep your eyes wandering and discovering charming surprises throughout your stay. Each hut sits on its own green space, complete with a patio, BBQ, and fire pit, all facing a large, well-kept communal lawn. Tea and coffee are provided, but it’s worth bringing extras just in case. Dog Friendly: Dogs are welcome, though you’ll need to bring a blanket if they won’t stay off the white hotel-quality bedding. If wet weather hits, be mindful of keeping things clean—especially with muddy paws! The Washroom provides only basic essentials and spare blankets (not bedding). Nearby & Other Notes: There aren’t major facilities nearby—just a petrol station and an Indian restaurant—but a 6–10 minute drive will get you to a few lovely local pubs. Despite the compact size, the hut felt surprisingly roomy. The wood burner added the perfect cosy and atmospheric touch, and the bathroom had proper running water and all the essentials. The hosts, who also own the farm, were incredibly attentive and made sure any needs were promptly looked after.

The huts and location are lovely. Unfortunately the booking company sent us a notification via email on the day of our arrival that they were cancelling on us. They also said they tried to call but I received no phone call or voicemail so I have doubts. I didn't see the email until another couple who had also booked the same hut turned up in the evening and wanted to double check I hadn't made a mistake, so I checked my emails etc. Not impressed, especially as we had booked a week earlier than the other couple. We were already moved in so stayed in the accommodation, but nobody was to be seen from the campsite to resolve the issue.

Had a great weekend here. The shepherd's huts are really nicely furnished with everything you'd need. The wood burning stove and record player (with a very eclectic selection of records) is a nice touch. Unfortunately the weather didn't allow for us to make much use of the outdoor seating area but the way it has been set up is great for privacy. We didn't see any other guests while we were there. Also a great location for exploring North Yorkshire.

Stayed at the Shepards hut for two nights it’s just what I needed, beautiful views, so calming & relaxing. We also had the privilege to visit the parrot sanctuary which was amazing. The huts are a little place of heaven.
