What visitors say
A good and scenic railway especially in the observation carriage. But that's £3 extra and it's far from well ventilated. They don't do day tickets, it's just a round trip. Comes with a few ferry too. Friendly staff. too. NICE CARRIAGES. Costs £26. I suggest buying the train AND steam boat too.

Excellent day out and a great way to see some beautiful views and sites. Good fun on the steam train and my little princess really enjoyed herself. Some beautifully stunning scenery to take in on the train journey aswell as the river cruise up the dart seeing the harbour and the picturesque town of Dartmouth and all the surrounding areas. Highly recommend.

Great experience doing this steam train journey to Kingswear. Added bonus with the ticket including going on the ferry over to Dartmouth. The return journey you can get any ferry back and train. The staff were friendly. Lovely experience with the old train. We went on with a pram and when you buy the tickets can have the option to sit in a carriage where you can keep the pram up or collapse it and sit elsewhere. That was appreciated. There is a ramp the staff can put out if you can’t lift the pram onto the train. Lovely views from the train too.

In my view, one of, if not the most scenic lines in the country! Lovely locomotives and staff members there are all really engaging. A great day out for all ages! It’s a shame that the intermediate stops between Paignton and Kingswear are no longer used - a hop on/ hop off ticket would be nice to explore the wider area, but this is only a minor niggle and in no way detracts from the five star rating of my review.

People say this steam railway offers magnificent views of the bay and river Dart, with well-preserved historic vehicles and steam engines. They also highlight the friendly and helpful staff, and mention the reasonable prices for the experience.
