The cottage is entirely ground-floor, with a double bedroom, two single beds in the second room, and a bathroom with bath and shower. The living and dining space has French doors opening onto a children's play area, and there's a utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer (charged separately). Essentials including electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi are covered in the price.
The grounds are the real draw. Guests have access to a heated indoor swimming pool (open April to October, 9am to 9pm), a 1-acre field with football and rugby posts, and a dedicated play area with swings and climbing frame. Dartmoor ponies, sheep and hens roam the property. A lawned garden with seating and a children's play field complete the outdoor space. The cottage takes one dog at no extra cost; it must be kept on a lead. Parking for two cars is on site, and an electric car charging point is available. No smoking inside.
Torrington is 10 miles inland from the North Devon coast, in countryside associated with the Tarka the Otter story. The cottage suits families wanting countryside and animals, or couples seeking quiet. Cots, a travel cot and highchair can be requested in advance, and a barbecue is available to share with other guests.

We had a wonderful weekend trip staying in the 6-bed cabin at Stowford Lodge Holiday Cottages. The accommodation was cosy, clean, and very relaxing. It was the perfect balance of comfort and countryside atmosphere. The hot tub and swimming pool made the stay even more enjoyable, and the fresh eggs from the host were a lovely personal touch. The children had lots of space to play outdoors, and they enjoyed looking at the horses and chickens around the property. BBQ equipment was available which made family meals outside really enjoyable. A great place for a peaceful family holiday — we would definitely visit again and recommend family and friends. 😊

Amazing cottages, and Lodge. Fully kitted out. Beautifully clean, very comfortable and in superb grounds. Nice walks around too and little playing area and trampoline for the children. Hot tub at the lodge and small swimming pool. Very very impressive!!!

Spent a weekend at Stowford Lodge and what a lovely place it is,really clean and tidy and with everything you could want a proper home from home. The beds are really comfortable too and the hot tub was a fantastic way to relax after a day out with the grandkids. Definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants a relaxing place to stay

We stayed for a week in one of the cottages at Stowford Lodge. The owners were polite and friendly, with a warm welcome as we arrived. We were told everything we needed know about our stay. Warren Cottage was clean fully equipped and just like being home from home, everything you need for your holiday. The beds were comfy and made up upon arrival with towels included. The grounds around the cottage were beautiful loads of space to explore and two beautiful horses to visit. There are also chickens which on request you can buy their eggs for your morning breakfast. The sheep dip was a favourite a small pool for swimming in, which has a timed rota to ensure that each family has their own pool slot which we enjoyed. Overall a wonderful holiday in a very peaceful location.
