Allegedly England's most haunted castle! Certainly a compact but fascinating place with some incredible architecture. It's not until you are in the castle and look down on what used to be a dry moat you realise how massive it was and what an amazing feat it was to fill part of it to build the more recent parts. Plenty to see and some nice areas to picnic. Interestingly the car park is the quarry used to hew the stone for building the place. The only downside is that the very nice tearoom isn't English Heritage so no 10% discount for members. But the advantage is they do nice Devonshire Cream Teas.

Interesting attraction. The castle and mansion are ruins but there is lots to explore and plenty of information on offer. You can take an audio tour or buy a guide book. Cafe and toilets on site and the castle is dog friendly. Car park is free.

We had fabulous time at Berry Pomeroy castle. We found it interesting, the audio was great to listen to, in fact brought the place to life. Beautiful scenery all around, lovely walks for our dogs. We we're able to take the dogs into everywhere. Lovely cafe, friendly staff. We had a free ticket for English heritage & it was a place I'd wanted to visit for a while. Was not disappointed. Highly recommend a visit.

Intimate, fascinating, well maintained. Parking very close by, a nice cafe by the entrance with indoor and outdoor seating. A visitor shop with guidebooks and souvenirs. I enjoyed it here as did the child I was with.
