About Green Dragon Inn
Tucked in the hamlet of Buttington on the River Severn, this warm country pub campsite puts you within easy striking distance of Offa's Dyke, the Shropshire Hills and Snowdonia. A varied menu runs from homemade pizzas and pies to proper Sunday roasts, with hot food served daily and a genuinely welcoming vibe that extends to four-legged guests. The pitches—a mix of grass and hardstanding options—enjoy lovely rural views, and you're only a few minutes' walk from the famous Offa's Dyke trail, which threads north along the river or south through open fields.
Facilities cover the basics well, including a washing-up area and baby-changing room, though the toilets can feel a little neglected at times. The roadside location just off the A478 makes access straightforward, but does bring a degree of traffic noise. Still, with Admiral Rodney's Pillar, Whitehouse Nature Reserve and miles of dog-friendly riverside walks all close by, it's a solid base for recharging between adventures in the Welsh Marches.

What visitors say
My husband, newborn daughter, and I met up with some friends here and were warmly welcomed by the family who own the pub. They were hanging Christmas decorations with their grandson and could not have been more lovely! The food was excellent and it felt like having a nice meal with your grandparents with the hospitality. Will stop here anytime we travel through the area.

Truly amazing food. We've been meaning to try them out for ages as we live quite close by and now I'm annoyed at myself for not going sooner. I had a pizza and my wife had the burger and we both agreed we haven't tasted food so fresh and well made in a long time. Cannot wait to go back.
