About Upper Severn Farm Camping

Tucked away on a working dairy farm, Upper Severn Farm Camping offers just a handful of wild pitches overlooking a wildflower pond and sweeping Powys countryside. Dark skies reveal glittering stars on clear nights, while a track leads straight down to the River Severn for wild swimming. Basic amenities—showers, loos, and washing facilities—occupy a converted cow shed, so bring a torch for after-dark trips.

This is very much a functioning farm, meaning tractor rumbles and animal noise around milking time. The owner welcomes visitors to join farm walks and meet the 300-strong dairy herd, pet sheep, chickens, and assorted cats and dogs, though livestock access requires supervision. One well-behaved dog per pitch is allowed, kept on a lead.

Welshpool lies ten minutes away for Georgian architecture, decent pubs, supermarkets, and takeaways. Golf courses, mountain biking, and canoeing all sit within easy reach, while walkers find endless trails threading through the surrounding hills.

Very pleasant stay welcomed with cream tea (payable extra) which was very nice. Staying enabled us to visit local narrow gauge railway and ride mainline to Aberystwyth. Prior to departure we had lovely egg and bacon baps.

A lovely CL site. Owners Dawn and Andy are friendly and welcoming, going the extra mile to ensure a good stay. I highly recommend the cream tea, and the complimentary breakfast bap on the last day is a wonderful touch! I have some mobility issues but managed the walk into Welshpool in about 20 minutes. Pavements aren't great, but that is the fault of the Council, not the site.

We normally stick to larger sites but decided to try a CL site on the way to north Wales. It turns out we got lucky and chose an a amazing one. The site was neat and tidy, the hosts were great. We stayed a couple of nights and had a good look around the area. Powes Castle is worth a visit, especially if your members of the National trust.

A lovely CL. Plenty of space and amazing views. Ideally located for walking into Welshpool and catching the train or bus. Really friendly owners. We ordered the cream scones for £7.50 - delicious. Came with home made damson jam and clotted cream. We also had a lovely surprise on the morning we left as the site owners made us breakfast baps. There were also home grown apples available for free.
