About The Kings Head
There are certain advantages to pitching up behind a pub... especially in a field as roomy as the one at The Kings Head in Powys. There's not far to toddle after an evening supping award-winning ales, cask beers and wines, and if you've somewhat overdone it there's over an acre of flat, well-draining land here for gentle calorie burning or cobweb blowing strolls afterwards. The former coaching inn, fully refurbished in 2018, serves freshly prepped meals daily, making it a handy base for exploring the Glyndŵr's Way long-distance path that passes right through the village of Meifod.
Hardstanding pitches suit motorhomes and caravans, though the main field can get muddy after rain—tractors are on hand to tow anyone who gets stuck. The River Vyrnwy is within walking distance, with trout and salmon fishing available via local farms, while the Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway and Shropshire Hills lie within easy reach. It's a peaceful, unpretentious spot that ticks boxes for walkers, cyclists and anyone who appreciates their campsite with a decent pint attached.

What visitors say
We called in here for a Sunday lunch whilst on holiday in Mid Wales, excellent service, fantastic food and plenty of it. We will definitely book again next time we are in the area. Best wishes Robert Hankins

Did not stay here but we have eaten on several occasions and have really enjoyed. Great staff, friendly and attentive. Sunday lunch is excellent, you need to book in advance.

If you are in the area you must stay at the Kings Head, the owners are exceptionally friendly and helpful, the pub is beautiful and as an added bonus it is pet friendly!! The little cabins in the back are fantastic and feel so luxurious and peaceful. The breakfast is included and it is delicious. You can also come in your campervan and use the electric hook up and amenities.

Had sunday lunch which wasnt the best for how much you pay.i also cooked on some beef that was very tough staff wernt very helpful just offered a glass of water.needs to say I didn't eat my lunch.after I had calmed down I thought I would try a dessert and asked for cream with it but got custard.i said to the waitress I asked for cream she just swiped the custard away as it was in a jug and brought the cream out.no sorry or anything just dumped it on the table.soon quick enough to take the £75 off me though.safe to say I doubt I will be returning
