About Tipis at Ponty
Secluded riverside camping at its finest, Tipis at Ponty offers a genuinely off-grid escape near the Powys-Shropshire border. Choose from traditional tipis, cosy yurts or timber cabins, all set in peaceful grounds where campfires are actively encouraged and the River Camlad provides a soothing soundtrack. It's strictly adults-only, making it ideal for couples or groups seeking a quieter retreat.
The lack of WiFi is entirely deliberate—this is proper digital-detox territory. Basic facilities (showers, toilets, drinking water) keep things comfortable without feeling over-developed, and well-behaved dogs are welcome to join the adventure. Llansantffraid and Welshpool are both within easy reach for supplies, but once you're settled by the fire under the stars, you're unlikely to want to leave.

Just returned from a fantastic 2 night camping trip with my wife (Ann) and two friends (Stu & Annie) and have to say that this campsite is perfect. The facilities are great. Lovely clean and spacious toilet & wet rooms, a great little kitchen with big fridge & freezer and electric points to recharge phones, along with some essentials with an honesty box. Logs for the fire pits are also available. The Sunset Shack is a great place to hang out in the evening with excellent views across the hills and valley, and if you’re there on a Saturday then the home made wood fired pizzas are a must! We rarely go back to the same site twice because there are so many new places to try, but we’ll definitely be coming back here as it’s just very chilled and Ian & Jane are brilliant hosts. If I could give it more than 5 stars I would, can’t wait to go back!

Just returned from a short break and it was amazing. Really chilled relaxed atmosphere with great hosts. Truly back to nature vibe and lovely surroundings. Stayed in the mavis tipi which was great. Nice clean shower/toilet facilities and small shop with homemade sausages 😋. Will be back

What a great place! This is a gorgeous little site, we stayed in the wild camping section, the pitches were great, place to have a fire, wild swim in the river. Ian was amazing, stayed up late for our arrival, supplied us with eggs for breakfast, all the information we needed for our weekend. Would definitely recommend and hope to be back soon.
