The Dairy is a single-storey cottage converted from one of the original farm outbuildings at Martin Lane Farm. Built in the 18th century, it retains the character of its past while offering contemporary comfort: a ground-floor open-plan space combines living, dining and kitchen areas, with a bedroom and ensuite wet room completing the layout. Patio doors lead to a private garden, and there is parking for two cars on site.
The kitchen is equipped for self-catering, with an electric cooker, microwave, fridge and freezer. The bedroom has a zip-and-link super king bed (convertible to two singles on request). Essentials such as heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are included. The cottage sits within six acres of shared grounds at the farm, where guests have access to a sitting area and patio with garden furniture, a barbecue, gas barbecue, chiminea, pizza oven and fire pit. A bike store and shared laundry room are also available. No smoking is permitted. Check-in is after 3pm and checkout before 10am. The farm campsite sits nearby, and the Lancashire coast is about a 10-minute drive away.

What guests say
What a beautiful, gem of a place. Farm buildings that have been converted into self contained apartments. Yes we could have stayed in a souless premier inn with noisy guests at 2am, but we wanted something with character, close to town. Ormskirk and Southport are nearby. Its a paradise for cyclists, hikers and there's even a canal close by for kayakers and Suppers. We will definitely back to stay here!

Stayed in the Dairy for three nights visiting family and old haunts. Perfect for a couple. Cosy and secluded, proper middle of nowhere stuff.

The Dairy was a wonderful place to stay! Perfectly sized and set out for solo or a couple. Private, you wouldn't know there are other units around, but this would be a great place for a stay that needed a number of separate spaces. Convenient for WWT Martin Mere (less than an hour walk if you're so inclined). Although not needed, parking space was fine and safe. Truly everything you'd need for a short (or longer) stay.

Albeit out of the way, we found this a great stay. The hostess was super friendly & helpful & the cottage was clean & well presented for a great price for the 2 nights we stayed.
