The cottage is in ideal location for some lovely scenic walks and also close to other attractions in the Lake District. The only reason I am not giving this place 5 stars is that the cottage really needs an upgrade, especially the living room and the toilets. Cleanliness was ok but lots of cobwebs in places, wallpaper peeling in places. It has a very traditional feel but there’s no reason that can’t be preserved and a few things upgraded. The living room has a very musty feel to it, sofas need replacing, not comfortable to sit on if you want a relaxing evening after a long day. Could do with some basic condiments in the kitchen like black pepper and sugar. Also kitchen paper tissues would be helpful. Lovely cottage just needs some TLC.

In desperate need of loads of TLC...my sister in law paid a fortune for this place for 2 nights, we were her guests for one night, it could be a real jewel.......but not as it is at the moment 😔😔

Location makes this cottage, some great walks from your door, Dovedale cragg, The Knott were great. House itself is a bit tired and a bit musty, bedrooms not the freshest, towels quite old, though bed linen was all clean. Really good WiFi, though really needs a TV a bit newer to veg out in front after a long day walking. For a house that easily sleeps 8-10 the kitchen was minimally equipped and the old arga really made the place too hot when cooking. Though trying to cobble together large meals for everyone in various pans and appliances did become fun as you had to work with what you had. We did have a great week.
