Burnthwaite Cottage
Westmorland and Furness
View on Google MapsYou enter Burnthwaite Cottage into a ground-floor bedroom and bathroom, then climb to the first floor where the living space opens up—deliberately arranged to face out across meadow and countryside. The thick stone walls, some left exposed, anchor you to the cottage's 18th-century origins, while the straightforward modern comforts make it actually liveable. A double bed, a kitchen with oven and hob, heating, and wifi cover what you need; the rest is the view from the windows and the quiet of the village.
The Watermill pub is a short walk away. Staveley, two miles south, is a proper village with local workshops, bakeries, a micro-brewery, and walking into the Kentmere Valley nearby. Windermere, Bowness and Ambleside are within easy drive for when you want the busier Lakeland resorts. Cyclists use the area regularly and bike storage is available. Wi-Fi, electricity, bed linen and parking for one car are included; no smoking inside. The cottage sleeps two and is yours alone.
